As a business owner or IT manager, here are five compelling reasons to consider using mobile device management (MDM) for your company:

  1. Enhanced Security: With MDM, you can implement strong security policies and controls to protect your company's data and network. You can remotely wipe devices, set password policies, and enforce encryption, among other security measures. This will help protect against data breaches, hacking attempts and other security threats.
  2. Increased productivity: MDM allows you to manage and monitor your employees' mobile devices, ensuring they have access to the right apps and resources they need to do their jobs. You can also push software updates and fixes to devices, ensuring your team is working with the latest software version, which can help increase their productivity.
  3. Cost savings: MDM can help you save money by reducing the need for IT staff to manually manage and troubleshoot individual devices. You can manage and configure devices remotely and quickly identify and resolve any issues that may arise, which can help save time and money.
  4. Compliance: Depending on your industry and the type of data your company handles, you may be required to comply with specific regulations and laws, such as GDPR, HIPAA or PCI DSS. MDM can help you enforce compliance by implementing policies and controls that align with these regulations.
  5. Better user experience: MDM can help ensure that employees have a seamless experience when using their mobile devices for work. By configuring and managing devices, you can ensure they have access to the right resources, apps and settings they need to do their jobs, while minimizing distraction and potential problems.

• The minimum number of devices that make using MDM worthwhile may vary depending on the specific needs and requirements of your organization. However, in general, if your organization has five or more mobile devices that need to be managed and secured, it's worth considering implementing an MDM solution.

• While it is possible to manage a small number of devices manually, as the number of devices increases, so does the complexity and risk associated with managing them. MDM can help you automate many of the tasks associated with mobile device management, such as provisioning, configuration, software updates, and troubleshooting, saving you time and resources.

• In addition, MDM provides enhanced security features such as the ability to remotely wipe devices, enforce password policies, and restrict access to sensitive data, which can help protect your organization from data breaches and other security incidents. So even if you only have a small number of devices, MDM can provide significant benefits and help ensure your mobile devices are secure and well managed.

Apple Business Manager is a simple web-based portal for IT managers, which works with various Mobile Device Management providers (such as Jamf or Intune) to manage the Apple devices of a company or organization.

Apple Business Manager itself is not an MDM provider, but essentially a repository of enterprise devices and applications, through which they can be distributed to MDM providers.

The main features of Apple Business Manager are:

Device Provisioning - Connecting Apple devices to MDM providers.

ABM can simultaneously work with many different MDM providers and connect corporate devices (e.g. we can have mobile devices in Intune and Macs in Jamf or through Locations define a specific MDM provider for a group of devices in a specific geographical point).

Application Management - Management of corporate applications

Through Apple Business Manager, your company or organization can purchase content (such as apps and books) - as well as free apps - under its own ownership, without having to assign them to users' personal AppleIDs.

The administrator can assign this content to devices or users, and then update this content wirelessly, without using the App Store. All of these applications can also be connected to MDM providers, for management from their own environment.

Automated Device Enrollment

An Apple device purchased from either Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller or carrier can be automatically added to Apple Business Manager, and from there, through the Automated Device Enrollment solution, directly enrolled to an MDM provider to receive applications and security policies.

Can Apple Business Manager work without a connection to an MDM provider?

Yes, but without any device usage management.

Can an MDM provider work without Apple Business Manager?

Yes, but all steps to integrate devices must be done manually, and the ability to manage apps is limited.

Jamf is a provider of Apple Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions for secure and controlled use in corporate, educational and healthcare environments.

With Jamf solutions, IT and security teams can confidently manage and protect devices, data and applications, without reducing the ease of use of Apple devices that end users love.

Jamf provides solutions for: Mobile Device Management (MDM), Zero-touch deployment, Application management, Inventory management, Self Service, Identity and access management, Endpoint protection, Threat prevention and remediation, Content filtering and safe internet, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Security visibility and compliance.

We are Resellers of JAMF solutions in Greece.

Endpoint Management is important because it gives you greater visibility into all the devices used in your organization. As the number of devices people use for work has expanded, the attack surface has grown. Device Manager gives you the tools to monitor devices, ensure they're up-to-date, monitor them for threats, and quickly stop endpoint-based attacks.

Unified endpoint management allows you to manage all your company's devices, including computers, servers and mobile devices, through a single console.

• Increase your computer security with cost-effective and easy-to-use enterprise-grade Endpoint Protection for small and medium-sized businesses.

• Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 Unified device management and content security solution, including: Azure Active Directory Premium P1, Microsoft Intune, Azure Information Protection P1, Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics, Azure Rights Management, and entitlements for Windows Server CALs.
