Detailed Description
The iPhone Duo is the first ever foldable iPhone. It opens into a 7.6-inch inner display and folds shut to a pocketable 5.4-inch outer display, so one device covers both quick glances and long viewing sessions. A grade 5 titanium frame and a precision hinge hold it together, while the A20 Pro chip and a dual-battery system keep it running all day. A 48MP Dual Fusion camera system and a reimagined iOS 27 complete the package.
iOS 27 adapts as the phone folds, turns and flips, moving controls to the side to free vertical space. Split View puts two apps on screen at once, and StandBy turns the phone into a clock, photo frame or widget display. Touch ID sits in the side button, so unlocking works the same open or closed.
Both displays are Super Retina XDR panels with ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On, True Tone and 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. The inner screen runs at 1878x2670 pixels and adds a nano-texture finish that cuts glare, plus wide-angle OLEDs for off-axis viewing. The outer runs at 1398x2034 pixels. Apple Pencil (USB-C) support arrives later this year.
The rear camera pairs a 48MP Fusion Main with a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide, giving a 4x optical-quality zoom range and 48MP macro shots. A 12MP Center Stage camera sits on the outside, and a FaceTime camera hides under the inner display. The folding design brings features no other iPhone has: Duo Preview shows subjects a live feed on the outer screen, Smart Take fires the shutter when everyone is posing, Kid Cue draws children's eyes to the lens, and Duo FaceTime lets people nearby join a call. Video reaches 4K Dolby Vision at up to 120 fps.
Computing power comes from the A20 Pro, cooled by a vapour chamber, with a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine behind Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Two batteries work as one for up to 44 hours of video on the outer display, 31 hours on the inner display and 24 hours of typical use. Fast charging reaches 50 per cent in around 20 minutes, while MagSafe and Qi2 deliver up to 25W. Connectivity is eSIM-only, with 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
The enclosure is titanium, with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back. Open, the body measures just 5.2 mm deep; closed, it is 11.3 mm and weighs 254 grams. It is rated IP68 for splash, water and dust resistance, tested to six metres for up to 30 minutes.
