Detailed Description
The OWC Thunderbolt 3 10G Ethernet Adapter adds high-speed wired networking to computers equipped with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5 or USB4. It provides one RJ45 10GBASE-T Ethernet port with automatic negotiation for 10Gb/s, 5Gb/s, 2.5Gb/s, 1Gb/s and 100Mb/s connections.
OWC specifies real-world transfer speeds of more than 900MB/s under suitable 10GbE conditions. The adapter is therefore suitable for high-speed access to NAS systems, network storage and other 10GbE equipment, while remaining compatible with existing 2.5GbE, 5GbE and Gigabit Ethernet networks.
The unit is bus-powered through its Thunderbolt connection and requires no external power supply. Its ventilated aluminium housing functions as a passive heatsink, with no cooling fan, while a rubber sleeve provides additional protection during portable use.
Additional networking features include Wake-on-LAN, Audio Video Bridging (AVB) support and IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet. The adapter also supports TCP/UDP and IPv4 checksum offloading, TSO, LRO and RSS stateless offloads.
A 0.3 m Thunderbolt 3 USB-C cable is included. Windows and Linux systems require the Marvell AQtion AQC113 Ethernet driver. macOS 12 or later for Apple-silicon Macs, while Intel Macs require macOS 15 or later.
