Note for iPhone 15:

In September 2023, Apple released their iPhone 15 series of phones. These new models replaced the proprietary Lightning port with a USB-C port. This port can not only charge and sync your iPhone but now allows you to charge your low-power devices such as your Apple Watch and AirPods directly from your phone while on the go.

Since this new USB-C port allows for power to flow in both directions (into the phone and out to a connected device), you may experience unexpected charging behavior when using a USB-C-enabled portable battery pack. Not all USB-C-enabled portable battery packs support charging devices from their USB-C ports. These devices may only support charging the battery back itself through its USB-C port and will instead charge connected devices using a USB-A port.
